Marine Angelfish

Marine angelfish are some of the most lovely and attractive fished in the world of the ocean. Though they may be beautiful when kept in an aquarium, in the reef, adult marine angelfish can be destructive. They also tend to become territorial as they grow older. That is why when you are planning to keep angelfish, it is advisable to keep just one kind or type of angel. Marine angelfish is commonly found in the Caribbean Sea, Brazil, Florida, and in the Gulf of Mexico. Most adult marine angelfish have more vivid colors and patterns than juvenile marine angelfish. If you are planning to adapt any marine angelfish, you must have a marine aquarium for them. The bigger the tank or aquarium, the better.

You must also provide enough space for them to swim in so make sure to arrange the décor properly. Marine Angels are considered complicated fish to keep because they will not eat anything beside from tunicate and sponge. Though today there are now prepared sponge foods for angels, they still have some hard times to adjust to new foods. But once you get to feed them with prepared sponge food, they could live for a long period of time. Marine angelfish can grow quickly so do not be fooled by the size of the juvenile marine angelfish because they can outgrow their tank fast.

Here are the marine angelfish species/genus:

  1. Centropyge: The dwarf angels, rarely get to be over 10 cm. (4 inches) but are very beautiful and can adjust well to aquarium life. This specie can eat anything on the reef.
  2. Holacanthus: The King and Queen angelfish are the best known examples of this genus, but these species are the most complicated to keep because they only eat sponges and turnicate.
  3. Chaetodontoplus: This genus only also eats sponges and turnicate. (sea squirts).
  4. Apolemichthy and Pomacanthus: These genus are the Plankton eaters.

There are numerous types and kinds of marine angelfish such as Gold-spangled Angelfish, Griffis’ Angelfish, Indian Yellow-Tail Angelfish, Three-spot Angelfish, Bicolor Angelfish, Colin’s Pygmy Angelfish, Coral Beauty Angel and many more. Marine angelfish eats on plankton, sponges, turnicates, corals and algae. Make sure that you will not put up some corals on their tanks. These corals may only end up as their meals. You can include on their diet some mysis shrimp, krill, seaweeds and nori.

You can also add up some Formula two for their diet. This marine angelfish food has three types, flake, frozen and pellets. This is packed with vitamins and minerals for you r marine angelfish. Just remember that any marine angelfish can be aggressive and very territorial as they grow older and when they are in the breeding mood.
